About us

Cambridge University Opera Society is the university's leading operatic society with a rich and exciting history spanning nearly 50 years. Here is just a selection of the activities of the society and the benefits of membership.

Financial backing

CUOS acts as an enabler to student productions, offering resources and experience. Members receive preferential consideration for such backing; use us to realise your plans!

Masterclasses

These are put on termly for CUOS members, covering many skills and periods. Big names in recent years have included Martyn Brabbins, Jonathan Viera and Susan McCulloch.

Opera trips

We organise trips to the opera in London (both Covent Garden and ENO) as well as taking advantage of our partnership with English Touring Opera (which comes to Cambridge).

Mailing list

Perhaps not the most glamourous perk, but as a member you receive first notice of opportunities – musical and dramatic – from CUOS and its sister societies (such as auditions, jobs, directing opportunities).

Reduced ticket prices

All members receive a discount off all CUOS events.
