Future Production Applications

CUOS is accepting applications for both the 2010 May Week Show and 2011 Mainshow.

2010 May Week Show

This is traditionally an opportunity to use a less well known work and / or choose an unconventional space, although applications do not have to conform to these guidelines. Last year's production was Britten's The Turn of the Screw, performed underneath the Wren Library, Trinity College.

Dates

The closing date for applications is 1 March and interviews will take place on the 4–6 March. The show typically takes place one week either side of May Week.

2011 Mainshow

Traditionally held in West Road Concert Hall, this is a chance to use a large space with a capacity of 499 seats with orchestra pit. This year's production is Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande. Recent productions include Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin and Mozart's Don Giovanni.

Dates

The closing date for applications is 20 April and interviews will take place on the 23–25 April. The show typically takes place in the second half of Lent term.

Requirements

Applications should include the following:

  • Basic information about proposed dates, times and venue.
  • Notes from the conductor, producer and director: a brief description (approx. 500 words each) of your intentions for the piece artistically and logistically and your past relevant experience.
  • A proposed budget with break down. Remember to budget for music hire and performing rights costs if necessary.

Applicants must be a team of conductor, producer and director and all three must attend the interview. If at all possible please let us know in advance which times and days you definitely will not be available for interview.

All applications and other questions should be sent to the president, Claudia Parkes (cfp27 @ cam.ac.uk).
